I have a small Bible Prophecy discussion channel on Telegram, and with a few friends have been going through Isaiah, verse by verse, pondering the application to the final fulfillment of his prophecies. I’d like to repost them here, and hope they will help other students of Isaiah and the other prophets to visualize what he was conveying to Israel about the time of Jacob’s Trouble.
How do we know that a prophet is from God? A prophet is known to be from God by the proven truth of his prophecies.
Deu 18:22 If the prophet speaks in the LORD’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the LORD did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared.
In order to know if a prophet is from God, some of his prophecies must come true early enough to convince his audience to hang onto his writings for posterity. So there are near fulfillments and final fulfillments. While the near ones will be a match, the final ones will also accord with the prophecies in the extra details that are given as the prophet goes deeper into his descriptions.
It is these End Time prophecies that interest me, since the Kingdom is so near. I am skipping the historical fulfillments (because Isaiah has certainly passed that test by now) and will concentrate on the happenings of today and how they may intersect with the prophecies made around 2700 years ago.
My picture may look different from those of others, but so it was among the prophets and apostles, because all believers have a unique perspective depending on where they stand and what their life experiences have prepared them to see, and on their one-of-a-kind relationships with Jesus. I pray the Spirit will give me understanding and wisdom, and guide me away from mares’ nests and toward the truth, in Jesus’ name.
So please join me as I repost my studies, beginning tomorrow, February 19. I welcome your thoughts and/or questions on them.

Next: Isaiah chapter 1:1-17
I am so looking forward to this. My understanding of Isaiah is very limited. Thank you for explaining the “near and far” of prophecy.
